Privacy Policy

For the MileEntry app and the website mileentry.yorulmaz.xyz · Last updated: 15 September 2026

In short: MileEntry does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to us or to third parties. The app needs no user account, uses no server, no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services, and never connects to us.

Everything you enter in the app is stored on your device only. You alone decide whether and where to pass on exports or backups.

This is a courtesy translation. The German version is the legally binding one.

2. The MileEntry app

2.1 Local storage

MileEntry is a “local first” application. All data you create in the app is stored in a database within the app's protected storage area on your device. This includes:

This data never leaves your device unless you trigger that yourself (see 2.3 and 2.4). We have no access to it. When you delete the app, the operating system removes the data. Within the app you can delete entries and vehicles yourself at any time.

2.2 No connection to us

The app does not communicate with servers of the controller. There is no user account, no cloud synchronisation, no telemetry, no usage statistics, no advertising and no crash reports. The internet permission that the framework declares by default is not used by MileEntry for any data transfer.

2.3 Exports (PDF and CSV)

At your request the app creates reports as PDF or raw data as CSV. The file is handed over through your operating system's share dialog to an app or a storage location of your choice. From that moment on, the privacy terms of the respective recipient apply (for example your email client or cloud storage). MileEntry itself sends nothing.

2.4 Backup and restore

You can create a complete backup of your data as a file and restore it later. The backup is likewise saved through the operating system's share or file dialog; where, is your decision. When restoring, you pick the file through the file dialog. Again, nothing is transmitted to us.

2.5 Device backup by the operating system

Independently of the app, your operating system may include app data in the device backup you have set up (Android: Google One backup, iOS: iCloud backup). Whether that happens depends on your system settings and is the responsibility of Google or Apple. You can disable device backup in the system settings.

2.6 Reminders

Optionally, MileEntry reminds you at the turn of the month to record your odometer reading. This reminder is scheduled and shown locally on your device. No push services are used; no server is involved. The app only asks for the notification permission when you switch the reminder on, and you can revoke it at any time in the system settings.

2.7 Device information

The app reads your device's language, region and time zone in order to display dates, times and numbers appropriately and to determine month boundaries correctly. This information is used locally only and is not transmitted.

2.8 Obtaining the app through app stores

If you obtain MileEntry through Google Play or the Apple App Store, Google or Apple process data in doing so (for example about your store account, the download and, if you have consented to it in the store, crashes). That happens under their own responsibility. You can find details in Google's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.

3. This website

3.1 No cookies, no tracking

This website is a static site. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics tools, embeds no fonts, scripts or content from third parties, and contains no contact forms.

3.2 Server log data

When you visit the website, your browser transmits data to the server it is hosted on for technical reasons. We store this data in server log files:

The processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the secure and stable operation of the website and in defending against attacks. The log data is not merged with other data and is deleted after 14 days at the latest.

The website runs on a server we administer in a data centre of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Hetzner provides the infrastructure and has no access to the content of the data; as the operator of the data centre, however, Hetzner is a processor within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR, and a corresponding data processing agreement is in place with Hetzner. The server is located in the European Union. Information on data protection at Hetzner: hetzner.com/legal/privacy-policy.

3.3 Contact by email

If you write to us by email, we process your details in order to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). The message is deleted once the enquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations stand in the way.

4. Your rights

Insofar as we process personal data about you, you have the right to:

Since the app's data lives on your device only, you exercise these rights there yourself: you can view, export, change and delete your data at any time. For enquiries about the website, contact [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, www.ldi.nrw.de.

5. Changes

We update this policy when the app or the legal situation changes. The current version is always available at mileentry.yorulmaz.xyz/en/privacy.html.
